“We recently had a birthday bash at the Prynnsberg glamping site. There are no adjectives that can accurately and sufficiently describe this amazing experience. The venue is mind-blowingly beautiful, as you look out over the Freestate landscape with its sandstone mountains and rolling green meadows and farmland.
The site itself is one of a kind with an open air kitchen, dining and lounge area under a very large sandstone overhang. The toilets and showers are housed in tin shacks and the basins are situated against the sandstone krans. The tents have all you need from lovely beds with warm duvets and extra blankets, to luxury leather camping chairs, a table, towels and a towel rail.
Solar and paraffin lamps are used for lighting in and around the tents, and along the walkways at night. And if you are adventurous enough you can even have an open air bath with some of your friends in 4 old Victorian baths
The staff are absolutely amazing. Motsi ensured that we had enough hot water and wood whilst Anna and Mamamorena kept the gathering area in tip top shape. At night Mike and Sadam (his dog) ensured that we were safe from stray cattle and critters.
The mornings were serene with mist covering the valley the rst morning and with a soft sunrise the next morning. What sounded like hundreds of birds created a choir to usher in each day.
The rest of our time was spent lazing on the day beds, playing board games and chatting under the overhang; walking on the farm; or just staring at the landscape. We left Prynnsberg with our batteries recharged to 200%, ready to face the challenges and adventures of 2017.
We received an exclusive tour of the manor house which is currently being renovated with royally entertaining stories told by Rick as he shared the history of this breathtaking old house. His passion and love for the manor house and the property in general was inspiring and had us imagining what the house may look like when restored to its former glory. We look forward to returning to spend time in the manor house after its expected completion date of mid 2017
To Rick, Sue and the team, a huge thank you for making this weekend such a wonderful experience and making us feel part of a truly special place and story. May your dreams for Prynnsberg come true as we would love to return again and again.”

“We just spent the most beautiful & relaxing family time at Aran, Prynnsberg Estate. It is an unusual South African gem. The eclectic Manor House with rich history and multi-layered stories and the exquisitely decorated Aran in its classic setting, takes you on a historical journey to a grand era of the past. We explored the estate with the kids, filled with wonder at the 150 year old little Anglican church and creative uniqueness in the layout of the gorgeous “glamping” site – make sure to try the cave baths with its glorious view.
Prynnsberg is a definite must visit for both foreigners and local South African. Thank you Rick and Sue that you have endeavoured to honour Prynnsberg and bring her back to her former glory whilst simultaneously re-authoring her new narrative.”
